About Me
FOX News Interview with Maria Gitin about her civil rights work in Wilcox County: http://www.fox10tv.com/dpp/news/alabama/the-interview-maria-gitin I was a 19 year old student civil rights worker in Wilcox County doing voter registrtion work in the summer of 1965 with lots of local students and their parents, including Reverend and Mrs. Threadgill, Sheryl Threadgil-Matthews' parents. We have returned to Camden twice including to march with BAMA Kids and others. Now I am completing a book about the voting rights movement in Wilcox County with interviews from lots of local folks. Please visit my blog to see people you might know and to leave your comments about civil rights and race relations today. If you are 18 or older, remember to register and to vote in every election. Many people suffered and died for your right to vote. Do not be discouraged by comments you hear; think for yourself, do your research and vote every election, every year. Peace & love, Maria
